Vaucher A Paris, circa 1780. Very fine 20K gold, painted on enamel, paste-set watch with matching châte-laine and an ivory miniature. Two-body, by "LFC", "Louis XV", back with oval medallionpainted on enamel with Cupid, courting doves, a quiver withlove arrows, the temple of love in the background, border withpaste-set applied multicolored gold decoration forming a foliatepattern, paste-set bezel. Châtelaine: by "AP", five gold links, thetop one with a painted on ivory miniature depicting a ladyshowing a man’s portrait to her son, the border with appliedmulticolored gold floral pattern, a quiver and torch at the top,lower panels en suite with doves, musical trophies, hearts, andflower vase, two chains, one with matching key, the other withmatching seal. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outerminute dot divisions with five-minute Arabic markers, windingaperture at 1. Gilt Breguet hands. 28 mm, hinged, frosted giltfull-plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escape-ment,brass balance with flat balance spring, continental cock.Signed on dial and movement.Diam. 34 mm, length with châtelaine 195 mm. Notes Daniel Vaucher, (also Vauché, Vauchez) Became a Master in 1767. Recorded in Paris, in the rue St-Pierre aux Boeufs, 1769-90. He signed Vauchez à Paris.
