Bronzed Brass Theodolite by Troughton & Simms, London, with 4 1/4 in. silvered dial divided 0-90 in four quadrants, wheel-set vernier moving limb and two vials around needle ring calibrated 0-360, polished steel needle, clamp, screw-on sights (one screw replaced), interchangeable with vertical half-circle supporting 8 1/4 in. focusing telescope on rack and pinion index arm with vernier, cap, and three-screw leveling base, ht. 13 in. level, in fitted mahogany case and leather carrying case, total wd. 11 1/2 in., and an additional pair of sights.
