Needlework Memorial Sampler, "Rowena Richards was Born April 16 1796/wrought this Oct. 27 1808/aged 12 Years," Dedham, Massachusetts, worked in silk threads on a linen ground, centered with a weeping willow over an urn inscribed with several monograms flanked by alphabets and the vital statistics of several siblings of Rowena Richards, and a pious verse, (stitch losses, toning, fading), 16 1/2 x 16 in., in a period mahogany veneer frame. Note: Rowena Richards was the daughter of Samuel Richards (1756-1822) and Olive (Mason) Richards (d. 1837). They resided in Dedham, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.
