The image was inspired by Griffin's travels to the desert Southwest and contains thematic elements of Griffins work, including flames, wings, skulls and desert sunsets. The skull, so prevalent in the iconography of the Griffin and others artwork, is filled with energy and life with Griffin's signature flames and seeming to have a mission as it flies with purpose on dark wings. This image does not appear to be a memento mori but a subject given new life. Signed in lower right. Framed.
