Painted Pine Heart- and Pinwheel-decorated Dome-top Box, probably Somerset County, Pennsylvania, c. 1820-30, the red-painted box decorated with on the top and sides with black and white hearts and pinwheels, the front with black and white circles, heart, and leaves, outlined in black and white dots, with tin hasp, ht. 8 7/8, wd. 17 1/8, dp. 10 3/4 in. Provenance: Sidney Gecker. Estimate $4,000-6,000 small shrinkage cracks in top. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
