Archaic Inlaid Bronze Hu Vessel, China, Western Zhou style, flattened oval form decorated with two taotie masks between two geometric meander bands, two ram-shaped handles to sides, inlaid metal details of swirls and scrolls, a sixteen-character inscription to the interior translating to "covered gui made by Zhong Yufu on Capital's request to use for generations," the base with checkered lines, with carved wood stand, ht. 18, wd. 13 3/4 in. Estimate $1,000-2,000 trace of repairs and reinforcement along the border of foot and body, some casting flaws, metal rusting and tarnishing, multiple small punctures particularly around bottom, damage to wood stand, wt. approx. 28.8 lb.
