Wedgwood Gilded Black Basalt Brainstone Vase and Cover, England, c. 1885, the oval swan-handled vase with vermicular pattern, a Medusa mask below, all mounted on the backs of two winged sphinxes set on a raised rectangular base, ht. 14, lg. 12 3/8 in. Estimate $2,000-4,000 Finial restored at join. Chip to nose of one sphinx; End of one wing partly missing. Slight gilt flaking along the edge of the base.
