U. S. Model 1850 Foot Officer's Sword, c. 1861-65, brass hilt with leather and wire-wrapped grip, blade marked "Sauerbier/Newark/N.J." with light foliate designs, "US," and panoply of arms, leather scabbard with brass fittings, blade lg. 31 1/2, overall lg. 37 1/4 in. Estimate $700-900 Brass has some tarnish and remnants of cleaner, blade has some light rust and staining, scabbard is in good condition but the throat is missing the two brass screws to hold it in place.
