Attributed to Samuel L. Waldo, (American, 1783-1861) Portrait of Gentleman. Unsigned. Oil on panel, depicting the half-length bust of a gentleman wearing a black coat, high stock, and white jabot, 30 x 24 in., in a molded giltwood frame. Condition: Scattered retouch, cradled. Provenance: Ex collection of Dr. I.M. Cline of New Orleans. Note accompanying the lot is an old auction catalog dated 1927 from Samuel T. Freeman & Co.in Philadelphia featuring the collection of Dr. I.M. Cline of New Orleans, in it this painting is featured in the frontispiece and offered as lot 27.
