ATT. TO SAMUEL L. WALDO & WILLIAM JEWETT, OIL ON WOOD PANEL, 30" X 24", 'MRS. BENJAMIN FRANKLIN LEE':Image is said to be a depiction of Mrs. Benjamin Franklin Lee (Jane Patience Riter Lawrence) as shown in a portrait , in half length. She is shown as an elderly woman clothed in a black dress and a white bonnet. No apparent signature. The piece is attributed as a collaborative work done by American artists Samuel Lovett Waldo (1783-1861) and William Jewett (1795-1873). The piece was purchased from the Frick and in 1942 received a letter from the Frick Art Reference Library which states their artistic attribution.
