A Tamandaré Merit Medal presented to Pelé on May 22, 1972 by the Brazilian Navy. The medal features a low relief image of Joaquim Marques Lisboa, Marquis of Tamandaré and the first Admiral of the Brazilian Navy. The back of the medal features the words "The Brazilian Navy His Glorious Patron/ 1957" in Portuguese. The Brazilian Navy first institued the medal in 1957.
