“Farewell to the Beloved” Geneva, No. 1830. Made for the Chinese market, circa 1820, the case attributed to Frères Oltramare, No. 5220. Very fine and rare, 18K gold and painted on enamel, pearl-set center-seconds, musical, quarter-repeating pocket watch playing music on the hour or at will. Gold, champlevé radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, acanthus engraved decoration between the numerals, engine-turned center and outermost border. Blued steel "serpentine" hands. Notes The mirror image pair to the present watch (No. 1829, case No. 5219) was sold by Antiquorum, Geneva, November 16, 2002, Lot 151.
