JOSEPH ROSE – THE HUNTSMAN’S REST Joseph Rose, London. Made circa 1750. Fine and rare, rococo, 20K gold, half-quarter repeating, repoussé pair-cased pocket watch. Outer: two-body, repoussé, decorated with a scene of a two huntsmen resting with their dog, a bearer carrying the days bag, sunray background, within a rococo cartouche, pierced border decorated with scrolls, bezel decorated to match. Inner: two-body, "bassine", master mark IAG, polished, the band pierced and engraved with fl owers and scrolls and a mask. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, outermost fi ve-minute Arabic numerals. Gilt pierced hands. 32 mm, frosted gilt full-plate with square baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance with fl at balance spring, pierced and engraved single-footed cock, silver regulation dial, repeating on a bell in the back of the case activated by depressing the pendant. Movement signed. Diam. 46 mm.
