Neuchâtel, Swiss, No. 8591, circa 1820. Fine and rare 18K two-tone gold and double-face watch with date, days of the week and painted on enamel dial. Two-body, "Louis XVI", polished, bezels decorated with applied green gold twisted rope wire. Front: enamel, two putti on each side against a pink background, below a regulator scale surmounted by painted rose garlands, above eccentric radial Roman chapter, outer minute dot divisions with five-minute Arabic markers surmounted by a painted red ribbon. Brass oval-opening Breguet hands. Back: white enamel with outer red days-of-the-week track and inner Arabic 31-day date track. Gold "serpentine and heart" hands. 34 mm., hinged, frosted gilt full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, brass balance with flat balance spring, single-footed cock.Signed on dial and movement, case punched with a chevron, the Neuchâtel area gold guarantee mark.Diam. 53 mm.
