Pierre Le Seyne a Paris, circa 1620. Important silver and gilt brass pre-balance spring, single-hand astronomical hour-striking clockwatch with alarm. Two-body, "fermée type", both covers of silver, gilt brass band, front cover engraved (in the style of EtienneDelaune) with Apollo and his attributes: the lyre, bow and quiver, laurel-leaf wreath, countryside in the back-ground,border with inhabited foliage, back engraved with Diana holding a crescent moon, her dog by her side,border decorated en suite, band pierced and engraved with hunting scene and foliage. Silver ring, champlevéradial Roman numerals, half hour markers, center alarm ring with Arabic numerals engraved with an archerstalking a deer, fleur-de-lis pointer indicating the hours, bronze trefoil hand, outer finely engraved with mer-maids,exotic birds, foliage and cherub head mask. Oval, 47 x 42 mm, gilt bronze full plate, vase pillars, fuseeand chain, verge escapement, circular brass foliot, pierced and engraved pinned cock with circular symmetricalpattern and irregular foot, mainspring set-up click and three discs on the plate decorated en suite (one for thecount plate, two for stopworks), alarm with fixed barrel, iron escape wheel, Notes An excellent example of a complicated French watch from the early 17th century. Pierre Le Seyne is listed between 1612 and 1648 at the "Palais de Paris". He was elected Juré in 1616.
