Robert Rauschenberg (American, 1925-2008) Tampa Clay Piece, 1972. Signed and inscribed "RAUSCHENBERG CHANGE INC PROOF 72" in marker or similar on the reverse, label from the Graphicstudio, University of Southern Florida, Tampa, on the reverse, Graphicstudio and a second stamp on the reverse. Ceramic with screenprinted decals, 14 3/8 x 16 in. (36.4 x 40.5 cm). Condition: Minor soiling. Provenance: Purchased from Change, Inc., New York, 1977. Hairline firing crack, about 1 in. long, located at center left edge, that does not extend to the back of the piece. Probable areas of minor paint loss and craquelure along the right edge of the white screenprinted label, the largest measuring about 3/16 in. Two 1/8 in. diameter holes drilled for hanging in top corners.
