Henri Buguet (French, 1761-c. 1833) Les Passions, No. 7/ Lord-tolan prenant sa leçon de danse , published in 1819 by Aaron Martinet (French, 1762-1841). Unsigned, stamped with a floral motif l.r. Hand-colored etching, sight size 14 1/8 x 9 3/4 in. (36.0 x 25.0 cm), framed. Condition: Handling creases to corners, subtle foxing, not examined out of frame. N.B. The British Museum, which owns a copy of this print, publishes on their Web site that the title of this satirical print is a pun on the French word "l'ortolan" a plump bird known in English as the bunting. The print is listed in Bibliographie de France (Paris: Chez Pillet Ainé, Imprimeur-Libraire, 1819), #371, p. 283.
