Henri Michel Chapu (French, 1833-1891). "Ioanna d'Arc (Joan of Arc)", cast bronze, signed to plinth "Chapu" and with Barbidienne foundry mark to plinth. Finely rendered figural spelter sculpture depicting Joan of Arc (French, 1412-1431), made famous by her support of the uncrowned King Charles VII in the Hundred Years War and ultimate execution by the British at age 19, the figure depicted in full length seated with her knees tucked back under her body and bare feet exposed at left, her long arms stretched to front with clasped hands, and her face peering calmly to right, her hair tied back and under a bonnet. Approximately 18" x 12" x 10".
