Regency Tortoiseshell and Abalone Inlay Work Box, c. 1820, bombe sarcophagus form, the lid with abalone inlaid plaque of birds amidst flowering vines, with silver fillets and escutcheon, on flute-carved ivory ball feet, hinged lid opening to pink moire lined interior fitted with three shell-lidded wells, removable tray over further storage, wd. 12 3/4, dp. 9 1/4, ht. 6 5/8 in. Overall in very good condition. There is an old crack surrounding the plateau of the cover that has some reapirs and old fill. Back left corner of the box with a small piece missing. Front right corner of the cover with a piece missing above and below the edge. Interior satin pincushions deteriorated.
