Napoleon III Ebonized and "Boulle" Inlay Brass Mounted and Marble Topped Cabinet, the marble topped upper section with two doors opening to shelved interior, the doors inlaid with brass strapwork on faux tortoiseshell ground, over projecting lower section fitted with a similarly inlaid single drawer with Minerva mask escutcheon, on cabriole legs, the front legs inlaid and mounted with ormolu trim, ht. 55, wd. 29, dp. 16 in. gray marble top possibly replaced, brass inlay throughout with some popping and lifting, ebonized finish somewhat inconsistent with some areas of retouch, the two upper doors later fitted with modern teacup hooks, top surface of lower section with some chipping to the ebonized veneering, base section with one ormolu mount off but present and section of brass inlay loose, also with some losses to the faux tortoiseshell, finish overall somewhat dry to the base section, age typical darkening to the metal mounts
