William Sommer (American, 1867-1949) June with Strudel / A Portrait of the Artist's Granddaughter and her Dog Signed "William Sommer" in pencil l. l., inscribed "William Sommer...his granddaughter..." on the backing. Watercolor and graphite on paper, sight size 20 1/2 x 28 in. (52.1 x 71.1 cm), framed. Condition: Subtle foxing, not examined out of frame. Provenance: Ex-collection of Henry Francis, former curator at the Cleveland Museum of Art, then by descent. The work is toned. The fox marks are minor. There is scattered soiling and/or mold growth as well. Although they have not been removed from their frames, there are no other visible condition issues to report.
