Redier à Paris, dated 1873. Rare and fine gilt brass and enamel world time eight day going timepiece designed as a terrestrial globe. Designed as an enamelled terrestrial globe, gimbaled on a brass turned baluster stand. Arabic numerals on circular white enamel plaques applied on a gilt brass equatorial ring. Steel and gilt brass sun pointer. Eight day going circular movement within the globe with central going barrel, platform cylinder escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring with regulator. The whole movement mounted around a central axis carrying at one end the single hand, at the other a counterweight which serves to maintain the globe inclined on its axis at 23 1/2° to the ecliptic, the globe and hour ring being driven around them. Signed on the globe. In very good condition. Diam. 100 mm. Height: 20 cm.
