Attributed to Philipp Reinagle (British, 1749-1833) Pero, Son of Pluto Unsigned, titled, and inscribed "... Painted at Thornville Royal/By Reinagle..." on the reverse, inscribed on the stretcher and marked with a red wax seal. Oil on canvas, 15 1/4 x 21 in. (38.6 x 53.2 cm), framed. Condition: Lined, minor retouch, stable craquelure. Inscribed "Pero Son of Pluto/Painted at Thornville Royal/By Reinagle/For Col. Thornton/Reinagle Jent." on the reverse. Inscribed "painted by Reinagle" in ink on the stretcher. Red was seal with a stag and ox or bull on the stretcher.
