Attributed to Frederick Thomas Edwards (British, 1833-1895) Portrait of a Woman with Red Hair Unsigned, with a stencil from F. T. Edwards, 39 Norfolk Terrace, Westbourne Grove, London, on the reverse, stamped "WINDSOR & NEWTON/ 38 RATHBONE PLACE/ LONDON" on the stretcher. Oil on canvas, 36 x 28 in. (91.4 x 71.1 cm), framed. Condition: Lined, craquelure, retouch. N.B. F.T. Edwards was an artist and professor of drawing, painting and perspective, who operated at 39 Norfolk Terrace, Westbourne Grove, between 1870-1887. (1) Though he was known as an artist or instructor rather than an art supply dealer, canvases marked with his name have been recorded from the 1860s and 1870s.
