Lyonel Feininger (American, 1871-1956) Untitled [Six Figures and One Owl] Signed and dated "Feininger 1951" in black and blue ink l. l. Mixed media (watercolor, pen and ink, and charcoal) on Ingres laid paper, sheet size 9 3/8 x 12 1/2 in. (23.8 x 31.8 cm), unframed. Condition: Tack holes to corners, clear tape to all edges. Provenance: Through the collection of Ati Gropius Johansen, Massachusetts. N.B. We wish to thank Achim Moeller of the Lyonel Feininger Project, LLC, for his assistance cataloguing the lot. This work is included in the Lyonel Feininger archives of drawings and watercolors as no. 1115-11-21-11; a photo-certificate from Achim Moeller accompanies the lot. Very small tack holes to all four corners; minor acid burn to reverse; minor toning recto; clear tape (Scotch or other) to all four edges approx. 1/4 in. width; no additional condition issues to report.
