Lyonel Feininger (American, 1871-1956) Sailing Vessels and Rainbow , 1934 Signed and inscribed "Feininger/ XXX (Muttertag) 13. v. 34 L.F." in ink and pencil l.l., dated "2 ii 34" l.r., identified on a label from Kanegis Gallery, Boston, affixed to the backing. Ink on paper, sheet size 7 3/4 x 11 5/8 in. (19.7 x 29.5 cm), framed. Condition: Tacked to u.l. and u.r. corners. Provenance: Collection of Sidney Kanegis, Boston, Massachusetts; private Massachusetts collection. N.B. We wish to thank Achim Moeller for confirming the authenticity of this work. The work is registered in the archives of the Lyonel Feininger Project LLC, New York - Berlin with the no. 1141-04-10-12, and a photo-certificate accompanies the lot. Tape to u.r. corner recto, measuring approx. 1/4 x 1/4 in., tack holes to four corners; tacked at u.l. and u.r. corners to silk-covered backing mat, subtle rippling to sheet; no additional condition issues to report.
