N.B. Caro created two series of paper sculptures at the Tyler Graphic Workshop in New York: Paper Relief Sculptures in 1981 and Hand-Coloured Paper Sculptures in 1993. In both series, he tested the boundaries of two- and three-dimensional arts, interweaving painting, drawing, and sculpture. (1) The present work is from the second series, which comprised sheets of white paper folded into freestanding sculptures intended to be viewed in the round (2). A copy of the book Anthony Caro , by Daine Waldman, published 1982, accompanies the lot. The work is B2327 with the Anthony Caro Archive. We wish to thank them for their kind assistance with cataloging the lot. 1. https://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/caro-15-point-t11801/text-summary 2. Ibid. Disadhered glue point at corner below
