Attributed to Johannes Christiaan Janson (Dutch, 1763-1823) Pair of Wooded Landscapes with Men Standing in the Road Talking Unsigned, both inscribed "Jacob Janson... /flourished about 1785" in pencil on the reverse of their backing mat, one identified on a label affixed to the paper backing. Watercolor and ink on laid paper, sheet sizes 5 1/4 x 6 3/4 in. (13.3 x 17.1 cm), both framed. Condition: Mounted to paper/board and decorative mats. Provenance: Sotheby's New York, Old Master Drawings, January 27, 1999, Sale 7260, Lot 238.
