Italian Composite Violin, Attributed to Giovanni Baptista Ceruti, Cremona, c. 1815, labeled JO BAPTISTA CERUTI CREMONENSIS, FECIT CREMONAE AN 1815 GBC, and bearing registration numbers A435 and I 8656, the two-piece back of light irregular curl, the ribs of irregular medium curl, the scroll of faint curl, the top of fine grain, the varnish of a golden brown color, length of back 13 7/8 in., 353 mm, with case. Certificate: Rembert Wurlitzer, New York, August 28, 1952, attributing the scroll to Johannes Fransiscus Pressenda.
