Watercolor and Needlework Memorial to Miss E. H.M. Clary and N.D.M. Clary, probably Massachusetts, c. 1789, worked in silk threads on a silk ground with watercolor details, showing a woman in mourning under a willow tree at the edge of a body of water, and leaning on a monument inscribed with the names of the deceased, in original molded and beaded gilt-gesso frame and eglomise mat, 14 1/2 x 12 in. overall. Provenance: Robert W. Skinner auction, 1972. Note: Backboard with applied Cermenati and Bernarda label, Boston.
