Two Wedgwood & Bentley Portrait Medallions, England, c. 1779, an oval solid blue jasper with dark blue dip and applied white relief depiction of Benjamin Franklin, titled Dr. Franklin below truncation, (restored), 2 3/4 x 3 3/8 in.; with a self-framed oval black basalt depiction of Menander, titled below truncation, (surface bubbling), 2 1/4 x 2 3/4 in.; impressed marks. Note: The portrait of Franklin is taken from a terra-cotta portrait by Jean Baptiste Nini signed and dated 1777.
