A Strathmore side spiral sketch book owned and used by Rick Griffin. Includes 12 pages of sketches in ink and/or graphite including four images of surfing chipmunks; seven preliminary sketches for the cover of the book Conversations With the Dead by David Gans; one page of Spiral Dragon logo designs; and one drawing of a propped up face with mechanical brain. The opening page of the sketch book has prose written by Griffin titled "Origins of Art" that reads in part: "Lightining [sic] Flashes thunderrolls/ At the time of his appearance/ drawn by Griffin/ drawer of lines."
