Identified Spear Point Bowie Knife, c. mid-19th century, bone grip with "John Smith" carved on one side, with German silver fittings, blade marked on the ricasso "MANSON/SHEFFIELD," with a tag from The Horse Soldier stating it was carried by John Smith, a Virginia volunteer; and a leather scabbard, blade lg. 5 7/8, overall lg. 10 1/2 in. Provenance: The collection of Ron Tunison. Estimate $800-1,200 Shows some wear from use and spotting on the blade. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
