Shimazu Satsuma Four-legged Censer and Cover, Japan, Meiji period, compressed globular form on four hoofed legs, decorated with two dragons and seated arhats, the cover with openwork details and a seated shishi on top, "Satsuma Gyokuzan saku" mark with Shimazu family crest, ht. 8 3/4 in. Estimate $2,000-3,000 an old chip to censer rim, minor gilt loss and surface stain. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
