Alonzo Fiske Painted Canteen, Image, and Testament, c. 1861-64, gold-painted Confederate tin canteen, painted on one side with the battles he fought, and "Alonzo. B. Fiske/Co. K/29th Mass. Vol.," on the opposite side painted "I HAVE HELD WATER/FROM THESE STREAMS/AND PLACES" with a list of all of the streams, a ninth plate image of Fiske in uniform, a framed testimonial to his service, and a religious book of proverbs. Provenance: The collection of Nicholas A. Penachio. Estimate $800-1,000 Some paint flaking on the canteen but in overall very good condition, the testimonial has some paper loss but is nicely framed.
