Reconverted Model 1817 U. S. Flintlock Rifle, c. 1825, walnut stock with a patch box, two light cartouches on the left side, and a small star stamped in front of the trigger guard, lock (reconverted) marked on the tail "1825," and in front of the hammer "US/H. DERINGER/PHILA," barrel dated "1825" on the tang, and marked on the left side with "US/JH/P," barrel lg. 36, overall lg. 51 3/4 in. Provenance: The collection of Nicholas A. Penachio. Estimate $1,500-2,000 Has a few light dings and nicks in the stock, the lock functions properly, and the bore retains the rifling, and it has been reconverted.
