Virginian Worthington Powel (American, b. 1910) Carnival. Signed and dated "V. Worthington/1952 POWEL" l.r., identified on a handwritten label affixed to the back of the frame. Oil on canvas, 22 x 28 in., framed. Condition: Areas of fine craquelure, surface grime. N.B. Although the auction databases spell the artist's last name ending in two Ls, the signature on the front and the handwritten label on the frame each spell "Powel" with only one L.
