Circa 1790. The tambour top opening to a leather inset interior, with a mechanically operated concealed superstructure, fitted with a three-sided gallery and small drawers, lifting in conjunction with the hinged sides that drop-flat to enlarge the writing surface, the frieze with two drawers, raised on square tapering legs, ending in brass feet with casters. Height 34”. Width 29 ½”. Depth 24”. (Cond: mechanical fittings and tambour need adjustment, very good color, nice patina, a lovely well-made desk) (1500/2000)
