Two Women's Informal Robes, China, 19th/20th century, one dark blue silk embroidered with scenes of a high-ranking couple celebrating a special occasion at the chest, surrounded by vignettes of rockery and flowers, the center opening and sides trimmed with bands of figures on a ground of gold thread, and a purple velvet jacquard robe with peony and prunus branch decorations, interspersed with shou symbols, trimmed with bands of pink and green flowers and dahlias and butterflies at the sleeves, side, collar and bottom of the robe, lg. to 54 in.
