Evelyn Metzger (American, 1911-2007) oil on masonite (air brush technique); unsigned; depicting the Madonna with Child, possibly modeled after the 14th century statue at Notre Dame. This lot has a book that accompanies the painting entitled "The Age of Grandeur And A Woman Who Lived It: Artist Evelyn Metzger". It is a hard bound book that covers both her social life and her artistic appreciation and contributions, examining her formal studies of art history at Vassar, her flexibility and travels, and her portraits. Artwork measures approximately 36" in height by 24" in width unframed and the book measures approximately 11-15/16" in height by 9-1/2" in width; painting is in good overall condition with slight wear to corners and book is in very good overall condition.
