Shaker Walnut and White Pine Sewing Desk, probably Harvard, Massachusetts community, c. 1870, the case is composed of frame and panel construction including the backboards, central cupboard door and the vertical asymmetrical boards on the front, as well as on the left side; all paneling, legs, and drawers are surrounded by beaded edges,with a pullout pine work surface edged with walnut, all on square tapering legs, original porcelain pulls, old surface, (surface imperfections), ht. 41 1/2, wd. 31 1/4, dp. 24 1/2 in. Note:"Letters of Different Sources and Articles or Orders" is inscribed on a paper glued to the inside of a drawer.
