Federal Cherry Inlaid Tall Case Clock, c. 1800, dial signed "Abel Stowell," Worcester and Boston, Massachusetts (1800-1820), the pierced fret with three fluted plinths supporting brass belted ball finials, above the glazed door, which is flanked by free-standing fluted columns with brass capitals and bases, and opens to a painted metal dial with a rose in the arch and gilt spandrels, and an eight-day weight-driven movement with a calendar aperture and a seconds hand, above a shaped waist door outlined with cross-banded mahogany veneer and flanked by quarter-engaged fluted columns above the box base which is outlined with similar cross-banded veneers over an applied molding, on ogee bracket feet, old refinish, includes two old finials, original weights, pendulum, and winder, (one right rear foot is repaired), ht. 90 in.
