Carved and Engraved Powder Horn, New England, initialed "S B 1790, JHB 1840," the top fitted with a carved wooden plug, with an incised ring at the tip and an incised band at the throat, the recessed portion extends to the engraved area having a scalloped edge with fine sawtooth border, the engraving features an American eagle with shield and banner inscribed "E PLURIBUS UNUM," an axe wielding figure, various other animal and stylistic geometric devices, highlighted with blue, mustard, and brown stains, attached with brass tacks to a domed wooden butt plug having a brass knob, (five small old holes), lg. 16 in. overall.
