John Rhodes Engraved Powder Horn, c. 1777, horn with pine plug, carved on the side of the horn JOHN RHODES , and marked BRISTOL/Janr. 7th 1777 , carved with a horse and handler, animals, birds, and a house, overall lg. 7 3/8 in. Provenance: The Charles D. Cook collection, by family descent to the consignor. Note: John Rhodes enlisted on January 1, 1777, and served until June 1783.
