Brass Qibla Indicator, probably Persia, 19th century, the circular case with paper compass dial inscribed in ink with the four directions and the "line of half of the day" (meridian), arrow-shaped needle with red tip, outer ring divided 0-90o x 4 and with lobes at the directions, joined by scrolls at direction pointer, the lid top and interior and case bottom with engraved gazetteer of eighty-four cities and towns, their latitude and direction to Mecca, dia. 2 1/2 in.
