American, first quarter of 20th century. United States Navy presentation sword with scrolled foliate, flag, star, and shield decorated blade by Herman Cohn Brooklyn N.Y.; (marked at end of single edged blade). Sword presented to "Edwards R. Hinson Machinist USN". Cast gilt brass quillon/ knuckle bow with pierced oak leaves and acorns and USN. White ray skin grip covered with wire wrap. Dark brown leather scabbard with knot motif banding and drag decorated with dolphin. Length of sword approximately 34".
