Mandoline Piccolo Musical Box, No. 14830, playing twelve airs, with double-spring motor, lyre-form tune indicator with blued-steel pointer, butterfly-wing governor, tune-selector mechanism, and third-length piccolo comb, in crossbanded thuya veneered case with ebonized borders, inlaid to front and lid with geometric design of pierced brass, kingwood, mother-of-pearl and green marble-enamel, wd. 33 1/2 in., cylinder 19 1/4 x 2 1/2 in. diameter. Note: The unusual spring-loaded tune-selector is operated by a lever located in a slot between the change/repeat and stop/play controls, and appears to be contemporary with the box.
