Concerto Piccolo Musical Box by Langdorff, playing eight mainly operatic airs including Le Barbier de Seville , Freischutz, Choeur de Chasseurs and Carmen, Quadrille , with three-piece comb, tune-sheet and walnut inlaid case with tulipwood banding on front and inlaid floral motif on lid, wd. 26 1/2, cylinder 16 in. Note: Langdorff's "Concerto Piccolo" arrangement has two sublime harmony combs and a piccolo comb, resulting in pleasing renditions played with pace and volume. The first track, Barbier , incorporates the opening motif of its overture. Bulleid illustrates a similar tune-sheet ( Musical Box Tune Sheets , no. 156, p. 92) on a sublime "Concert Tremolo" box by the same maker. Case refinshed. Movement has been recently cleaned and overhauled and plays well, with more volume than usual for a movement of this size.
