Polychrome Painted Wood and Iron Child's Sled, America, c. 1880, the sled with wooden seat and sides, applied iron strap runners, the seat decorated with a painted depiction of a yacht flanked by the initials "G.F.S." and the year "1880" the sides inscribed "Volunteer" possibly the name of the vessel, the lettering done in mustard colored paint with maroon highlights as well as striping and scroll decoration on a blue-green ground, (scattered paint wear), ht. 6 1/2, wd. 11 5/8, lg. 46 in.
