American School, 19th Century Portrait of a Woman Wearing a Blue Ribbon. Unsigned. Oil on canvas, c. 1840, depicting the woman with brown hair curled in large rolls and held in place with large combs, the blue ribbon around her neck tied in a bow and secured with a jeweled pin, wearing a black dress with a white lace collar, she also wears an earring, a bracelet, and rings on her fingers, 34 1/2 x 27 3/4 in., in a late 20th century molded giltwood frame. Condition: Minor retouch.
